About Us
Welcome to Hinchcraft — where colour meets craft and every skein is a little bit of magic.
I’m Laura, the hands (and heart) behind Hinchcraft. I’ve been hand-dyeing yarn for my own projects for years, and now feels like the perfect time to share my creations with the wider fibre-loving world. The name Hinchcraft is a playful nod to my surname, Hinchey, and the sense of wonder I’ve always felt when working with yarn — it really does feel like witchcraft!
My fibre journey began when I was five years old. My Nan taught me how to knit, and I was completely mesmerized — turning a ball of yarn into fabric with just two sticks? Pure sorcery. That early spark never left me. As a kid, I was obsessed with my chemistry set, mixing potions and watching colours swirl and transform. It turns out that love for colour and experimentation never left either.
When my daughter was born, I taught myself to crochet, and later, a spinning workshop introduced me to the world of natural fibres — and I fell head over heels. Now, I combine my passions into what I like to call skein sorcery: lovingly hand-dyed yarns, inspired by nature, magic, and the simple joy of making.
I love sheep. I love yarn. I love the rhythmic click of needles and the vibrant beauty of a well-dyed skein. Nothing makes me happier, and I hope that joy comes through in every twist and turn of Hinchcraft Hand Dyed Yarn.
